Elementor Pro Review

In this review of Elementor PRO we see what are the qualities that make this plugin one of the most used and appreciated content builders by the people of WordPress.

Before we get started we recommend you to also look at this very interesting article from Wpcity.com:

Elementor vs Oxygen 2021: The Best WordPress Page Builder?

Now, we will take a look at features, performance and ease of use to determine if it is the best plugin to create WordPress pages, and what are its pros and cons.

Elementor Pro

What is Elementor PRO WordPress

Elementor is a WordPress page builder to create pages, articles and customize the theme.Since it was released in mid-2016,

Elementor has achieved over a million active installations, has a five-star rating on WordPress.org and is growing steadily.

It is available in both free and paid (Pro) versions and works through the use of widgets.

With Elementor you can create exceptional page layouts even if you are not a web designer and know nothing about HTML and CSS!

Moreover, having adopted an open source code policy, documented code accessible to everyone, many extensions have been developed by other companies.

All this allows you to have many widgets and therefore many possibilities for the development of pages and content.

Features of Elementor PRO WordPress Page Builder

Elementor Pro

In general, as said, you can create virtually any type of layout.

In addition, with the Pro version you can also change the appearance of the theme and product page of WooCommerce!

The thing I like about this page builder is that it doesn’t use shortcodes, this means that you don’t run the risk of losing content in the future that you want to disable it, see The dark side of content builders.

But let’s see a list of what Elementor (Pro) makes available and what you can do:

  • Create fantastic layouts quickly with a drag & drop interface.
  • Layout your blog articles.
  • Save parts of layouts as templates to reuse them in other pages.
  • Create Landing Page.
  • Create contact or opt-in forms. (Elementor pro)
  • Connect the contact modules to some of the most popular autoresponders. (Elementor pro)
  • Easily customize the appearance of the theme. (Elementor Pro)
  • PopUp creation and management. (Elementor Pro)
  • Creating dynamic content (read Elementor: how to use parameters to customize the Thank You Page)

How to use Elementor PRO

Elementor Pro
Elementor Pro

One of the fundamental aspects of a successful page builder is a simple and clean interface.

In Elementor we find both these features, in fact, for the construction of pages, it adopts a side menu from which you can choose the elements to insert in the page and drag them to the desired point.

In the central part there are two buttons, a “+” and a folder. If you click on the “+” Elementor allows you to insert a new page section and choose how many columns you want to divide it into.

Clicking on the folder, on the other hand, opens a popup that allows you to choose between page layouts and parts of layouts that are already ready or that you have previously saved.

Most templates are accessible with the Pro version of Elementor.

Page settings

From the sidebar you can access page settings and other interesting features, some of which you released very recently.

The first button at the bottom of the panel takes you to general page settings where you can manage page name and publishing directly from Elementor,

you can also define a layout by changing the background and defining padding.

The second button at the bottom gives you access to one of Elementor’s most popular features: Navigator.

It’s a window, which you can place wherever you want, within the screen, that allows you to quickly navigate through the elements of the page.

If your page has 10 sections and each section has other elements within it,

I guarantee you that it’s very convenient, because it allows you to switch between sections very quickly.

The third button at the bottom allows you to load previous versions of the page via revisions.

The fourth one at the bottom shows the mobile layout, there are three options, desktop, tablet, smathphone.

Clicking the top left button takes you to another menu, where you can define additional general settings and use some interesting functions. Two of these are worth mentioning.

Default colours (Color Picker): you can set the colours you use on your site and quickly have them available on any page or post.

Finder: A feature added in October 2018,

it allows you to search for anything on your site, back end and perform actions, such as creating a new page,

Very quickly reducing the number of clicks required.

Elementor PRO – Widgets

Elementor Pro

Elementor provides many widgets for page construction.

You can add more by purchasing the Pro version or addons, such as Ultimate AddOn for Elementor, developed by third parties.

As said, the elements or widgets are divided by type, if you install new ones a new type will be created, clicking on each of these types will access the list of elements.

The Free version provides basic elements useful to structure simple pages.

The Pro version expands the offer by providing a widget to create forms and optins that can be directly connected to an autoresponder, (GetResponse,Aweber,Mailchimp ecc..)

widgets to show the list of posts, to create animated text or to integrate Facebook into your pages.

Pop-Up Management

Elementor Pro

Pop-Ups are created and built with the visual builder as if you were building a page or template.

Obviously they have specific properties and display rules.

In particular to decide where and when to make your popup appear you have three sections: Viewing Conditions, Triggers, Advanced Rules

As useful as they are, Elementor’s Pop-Ups, from my point of view, are very basic.

You can’t for example do A/B tests or have conversion statistics, as you can with Thrive Leads.

The price

This is where Elementor has differentiated itself and gained an important share of the market in a very short time.

The fact of having a free version allows those who want to try the plugin to do so, most will fall in love with it and buy the pro version.

Pro version which is the official addon and has a not excessive cost.

The elements that are added are many, and probably others will be added in the future, for sure with the free version alone you won’t be able to create all the pages a website needs.

To sum up, using Element Pro allows you to have basic widgets, some of which replace even paid plugins that are normally used.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • You can try it and use it in the free version
  • Countless customisation options
  • Affordable price
  • Easy to install
  • Clean, precise and easy to use user interface.
  • Ready-made templates
  • No content lock-in
  • Finder!
  • Advanced mobile layout management
  • Creating custom templates and using global elements
  • Open source code for development by third parties.

Cons

  • Some opt-in subscribers are missing
  • Lack of some marketing oriented widgets
  • Unable to directly edit the HTML of individual pages
  • Annual updates not guaranteed (pro version)
  • The page creation interface works poorly with inline changes. The side boxes of the widgets must be used.

If you’ve come this far,

I don’t need to tell you that Elementor is, without a doubt, one of the best builders on the market and given the policy of opening up development to third parties it will become more and more a standard and increasingly richer in widgets and features.

Saying this as a lover of Thrive Architect is hard but it’s the truth,

Elementor is a super plugin, so much so that I plan to restructure one of my projects and go from a Thrive theme and builder to an Astra theme with Elementor.

Having said that, all you have to do is try it if you haven’t done it yet!
