Key features for a restaurant website

Every sector has its own rules to follow: the guidelines used to create a laundry website cannot be the same as those for a restaurant website.

The restaurant industry is a special and especially competitive world. Every chef tries to show off his or her skills, but to succeed on a website is a difficult task.

To improve your online image and optimise your content, you can follow a few simple tips when creating your restaurant website that will give you an advantage over your competitors.

If you don’t have a lot of experience, you can rely on a specialised company, but the prices are often very high and may exceed your budget.

With our two guides, you can have the same result but at a much lower cost.

Now let’s look at the most important parts:

Search engine optimized content

As well as being a showcase for your dishes, a restaurant’s website needs to “drain” traffic from search engines and attract new customers.

And to do this, what should you do? Create content (mainly articles to be published in a quality blog) that is SEO oriented, i.e. designed for search engines.

If your restaurant’s website manages to rank high for keywords relevant to your business, it is very likely that the number of customers will increase.

For example, if you have a restaurant and you want to set up your website in London,

one of your goals is to be in the top positions for the search query ‘best restaurants London’, ‘restaurants London’, ‘where to eat in London’ and so on.

To find out which words to use in articles and content on your restaurant website, you can use some free online tools:

  • Google Keyword Planner
  • Ubbersuggest

Chrome extension such as:

  • Keyword Surfer
  • Keyword Everywhere

Best Paid Tool

Keyword Researcher

Please note:

  • You will always need these tools and they will allow you to find the best keywords for your site.

The free paid tools do a great job, but they are clearly not as complete as this last paid tool we showed you.

If you want to get the most out of it, our advice is to invest a few dollars and get a tool that will get you 100% results with accurate data.

  • Once you have your WordPress dashboard (if you followed part 1 you’ll understand)

the first thing to do is to install the free Yoast SEO plugin, it will make your life easier when it concerns your site’s SEO.

Photos make the difference

How to convince the user to come and book online in your restaurant?

Through images. Photos have the power to make the user/customer’s appetite

An advice to follow for the realisation of the restaurant website is to rely on experienced photographers and not on family and friends.

Although it is true that nowadays we have mobile phones that take great pictures with all the various filters and applications available.

The important thing is to give it a lot of importance!

Images of the dishes with the ingredients in full view immediately capture the user’s attention.

The Restaurant Menu

If you manage to capture the attention of the potential customer through photos,

you must also offer him a menu where he can check the dishes prepared by the chef.

Publishing the restaurant’s menu online, with the prices of each dish,

is an additional service offered to the user and allows you to differentiate yourself from your competitors by immediately giving an image of transparency and professionalism.

Next we will look at some templates and useful tools for this!

Online Booking

A direct consequence of the previous paragraph is the need to integrate an online booking tool into the website.

If you can bring traffic to the website from search engines, you must give the user the possibility of booking directly online and consulting the menu.
