WP Tutorial Introduction
Born as a blogging platform, today WordPress allows to develop every kind of website, from personal blogs to the most advanced e-commerce;
the CMS is based on a framework that has made it a development environment for every kind of Web application. Its fundamental characteristics are the simplicity of use and the flexibility of the structure for the benefit of developers.
The complexity is managed by the framework, which makes available an API tool through which you can extend WordPress.
Installing WordPress and publishing online content is a matter of a few moments.
The basic architecture has posts for dynamic content and pages for static content, but this can be quickly extended with custom content types, metadata and taxonomies.
You can import content from a number of other platforms, such as Blogger, Tumblr and TypePad, with just a few clicks.
What is WordPress ?
WordPress is a CMS (Content Management System) that allows you to use it to create websites and blogs without knowing anything about programming.
In the Wikipedia page it is written that WordPress is a software platform of “Blog”, this could be true in the first years but in the following years the platform has made great strides so that now it is used for any type of website.
It is an Opens Source software under GNU created in 2003 by Matt Mullenweg and Mike Little and distributed under GPLv2 license.
The philosophy behind the Open Source software movement is that you are free to use, distribute, copy, modify and/or improve WordPress without having to ask anyone for permission.
The work to help maintain and improve WordPress always comes from thousands of developers, experts, bloggers, simple users all over the world, which is why WordPress can no longer be considered as the property of a single person or company, but of everyone without distinction.
It is developed in PHP and relies on a MySQL data manager for its operation.
One of the peculiarities of this software is to be free, this means that to download, install and use it you will never have to pay anything, not even after some time, no monthly subscription.
It has a control panel that will allow you to manage it visually, extremely easy and intuitive, with mouse clicks you can create and manage entire websites in full autonomy.
Don’t be fooled by the fact that it’s free, WordPress has one of the largest community of developers and support in the world and is used by the biggest brands in the world such as the:
New York Times, Microsoft, Playstation, Walt Disney, Mercedes-Benz;
Famous people such as Sylvester Stallone, Rolling Stones, Usain Bolt and many others.
Two curiosities on WordPress:
It is written with double W and capital P and new versions (updates) are always given the name of a jazz musician.
How WordPress Works
What’s Coming in WordPress 5.4
WordPress is developed with PHP language and uses a MySQL database, for the proper functioning of the website you need a hosting service that allows you to use these features.
As we said, with WP you can create dynamic websites, information such as texts and articles are in fact saved in a database.
When a user accesses a web page of your site, automatically the program will read from the database all the information needed to build that single web page, everything will be invisible to the user.
Key features of WordPress
Here are the main features of WordPress:
- Extension of functionality through plugins
- Availability of thousands of themes to customize the layout and graphic appearance of the site
- Administration area of the web pages, managed through a special template
- Permanent URLs that help optimization and placement in search engines
- Category and tag management
- Trackback and Pingback functions
- Visual editor for text formatting
- Creation of static pages
- Multi-author and multi-language support
- Multi-site support, you can install WordPress on as many domains as you like
- Possibility to create reserved areas
- Security Tools
- Social integration
The advantages of using the WordPress platform
The first advantage is definitely to enjoy a large community of developers so there are endless support and wide maneuver of action. The community is one of the best resources of WordPress as it is lively and constantly updated.
When you develop a website, using an Open Source CMS saves you time and money because you avoid having to create everything from scratch.
If the goal of your website is to find new customers and sell, it is not enough to have an original and feature-rich website, but you need quality content (text, images, videos) and a proper marketing strategy.
The budget saved thanks to the creation of a WordPress website can be invested to take better care of content and marketing.
WordPress has a well-structured and customizable code. Thanks to the support of a valid web agency with the right experience, it is possible to modify WordPress in (almost) every aspect:
from the layout to the design going to act directly on the theme, up to the code for the implementation of additional features.
WordPress is also very fast during use. There are no particular problems related to bugs or stops due to the slowness of the CMS, if used properly.
WP is SEO friendly
The word SEO is derived from the English acronym Search Engine Optimization or: Search Engine Optimization.
The developers of websites and WordPress know very well how much this activity interests their users and therefore have developed this CMS in such a way that search engines like it.
It is clear that WordPress provides us with many plugins to better manage information related to search engine optimization, but these tools alone are useless if you don’t have a technical background on how to optimize a site for Google.
The fact that WordPress is the most popular CMS in the world means that every day new themes, features and plugins are created and therefore the more time passes the more this technology evolves.
Security aspects are also constantly monitored by the community of developers and the software is constantly updated. Of course,
WP has been designed with security in mind, but in order to have a secure site it is essential to devote the right time to periodic updates and maintenance of your site.
How to get the first page on Google
The first Google page is the target of all bloggers and webmasters on the web, why? You may be wondering if you are new to the environment.

SEOPressor—What’s New about This WordPress SEO Product?
WordPress is decidedly one of the biggest blogging platforms in the world today. Even though it is not a free platform, the professional manner of this platform is what makes it more popular.
And that is the reason why a lot of online business entrepreneurs are using WordPress.
As a consequence of that, several tools have been released in the market today by which people can enhance the prospects of their WordPress blogs, and SEOPressor is one such tool.
Being a new entrant into this genre, we felt it apt to check out SEOPressor and find out if it is really worth all the talk that is going on about it.
What we found out, after testing the product for both performance and efficiency, is that this is a product that’s well worth all the investment made in it.
In any case, people are always looking out for the best possible search engine optimization for their business website, and the fact of the matter is that WordPress SEO cannot get any better than what SEOPressor can provide.
If used correctly, SEOPressor won’t just bring a WordPress website to the top page of search engines but it will also bring it to the top of the top page. Results can be expected to figure within the top 3 on the first page.
Here we shall take a look at why SEOPressor can achieve that. It’s a fact that this is one SEO tool that works in a very different way from other similar products. Let us tackle these differences one after the other.
SEOPressor depends on a factor known as the SEO Score for calculating the worthiness of a particular website.
What it will do is it will take some parameters into account and decide whether a particular website will rank well on search engines or not.
This score is a unique aspect of SEOPressor and the best thing about it is that its results correspond exactly with what a superlative tool such as Google Analytics will show you.
SEOPressor almost dissects your WordPress website and tells you things about it—innermost details that if you pay attention to could improve the prospects of your website to an amazing degree.
It will tell you, for instance, if your keyword is placed in the right position or not, and what a better position would be.
It will tell you about what kind of format you need to use for your titles—H1, H2 or H3—and it will tell you how the graphics on your website are influencing the prospects of your website.
SEOPressor doesn’t just tell you about your mistakes, but it will also tell you the solutions and will offer to do them for you as well.
This is one software application that allows you to sit back and relax as it continuously keeps monitoring your website and tells you exactly what you need to do in order to bring up the ranking of your website.
The Newness Factor
This is one thing to consider. The product is quite new, and even WordPress is continuously changing, which makes it definitely a good thing to be new.
For instance, SEOPressor is already compatible with the new WordPress 3.0, something that most other WordPress search engine optimization tools on the Internet are still trying to come to grips with.
This is what made this tool a big hit in its initial days. Even now, after several modifications, the plug-in remains just as easy as it was earlier.
There’s nothing you need to install; it is just a simple download that you have to do. Despite the program itself being very complex, you don’t need to be a technical whiz to figure it out.
The developers have tried to keep their program as much self-driving as possible.
The Secret Algorithm
Since its release, people have wondered about how the results of SEOPressor can match so perfectly with the results of Google Analytics.
Only recently was it announced that SEOPressor uses a secret algorithm that works in the very manner that the Google search engine works to rank its websites.
Using this particular algorithm, it is almost a no-brainer for SEOPressor to understand what it actually takes for a website to shoot right up the rung on the Google search pile. This is the one thing that has made SEOPressor so famous.
The Developer’s Reputation
SEOPressor has been designed and developed by Daniel Tan, who is one of the greatest search engine optimization gurus in the world today.
He has developed successful programs in the past such as the Backlinks Syndication System, the Rank Mover, the Ultimate RSS Joiner and the Press Release Cash Cow.
All of these have been quite commended in the online world, which is the same thing that is happening with SEOPressor currently.
Simple and easy to use
WP is adaptable and offers a user-friendly interface to manage content.
The recent updates of the CMS (which definitely includes the Gutenberg editor) have made it even more intuitive, based on an increasingly developed accessibility and very attentive to the user experience.
What is a WordPress Widget
Let’s say that a widget is a component that performs a specific function, only you don’t have to launch them, just drag them with the mouse from the position of the available widgets on the left, to the appropriate sections on the right, and place them inside a section that will make the widget appear inside the sidebar of the website.
The widget can also “appear” in other sections of the site not only in the sidebar, it also depends on the theme you are using and allows you to use widgets in other parts of the site.
WordPress has default widgets that will be present at every installation but you may find yourself with new widgets by installing a theme that provides widgets with special functions and the same thing by installing plugins.
The widget section can be found under “Appearance” in the left command bar.
If you need to add details or functionality to your site there are “Plugins”.
These are mini-programs that allow you to implement a certain function,
such as they insert the share button on socials, show similar articles, show the latest articles, some manage the security aspect, etc.
Plugins are “small” software that installed can extend functionality or add additional functions to WordPress and improve its use according to your needs,
They are created by developers, professionals but also by amateurs and in any case are previously checked and verified before they can be allowed to use them.
Plugins can be used to create contact forms, photo galleries,
in short there is a plugin for every need but that doesn’t mean it’s a good rule to abuse it.
The plugin section can be found inside the WordPress control panel in the command bar on the left where you will find the word “Plugin” where you can enter the list of installed plugins,
add a new one directly from the panel or through the editor modify the source code of any plugin.
You can find a lot of free plugins in the official list of WordPress plugins many of them even if they are free are very good, useful and used by most websites,
(see yoast, all in one seo pack, WP Super Cache)
but the nice thing is that you can also choose professional paid plugins for specific needs (here below you will find a selection of the best professional paid plugins)
WordPress, the graphic appearance
The graphic aspect of a website created with WordPress is managed by the “Theme”, that is a set of files (images, layouts and style sheets) that allow to show all the graphic part of a site.
A theme (also called Template) is a set of files (php files, style sheets, images) that contribute to create the whole graphic part of the site,
You can buy ready-made and pre-configured themes for specific development needs, such as ready-made themes for real estate agencies, ecommerce themes for online sales, car rental, journalism, mechanics, and so on.
Alternatively, if you’re a programmer, a simple markup language such as HTML is enough to create your own theme without the need for external services and additional costs, but in this case you’ll have to invest your time.
To find the installed theme and activate a new one, simply go to the “Appearance” section on the left-hand command bar and click on “Themes”.
Also below this section you’ll find other important sections such as the one for setting menus and widgets, the “Customize” section and the theme editor.
WordPress needs a theme in order to create a website layout and also manage its graphic appearance.
With WordPress, you can use and install free themes that are already included in the software itself in the appropriate section in the control panel or you can choose external services with more professional WordPress themes.
Below you will find a selection of the best plugins and paid themes.
On the Web, these two companies are now well known for the quality of their plugins and themes, offering all kinds of products to meet your every need.
Do you have products you’d like to sell online?
Wouldn’t it be nice to earn a few hundred (or even a few thousand) extra dollars a month?
Are the “technical” parts of setting up an ecommerce website holding you back?
You know, those time-consuming technical related things like:
- HTML / PHP coding
- designing website layouts
- creating webpage forms
- setting up payment processing gateway connections
- designing database structures
- installing shopping cart scripts or 3rd party service integration
- etc. — The list goes on and on.
It can be overwhelming!
What if I could tell you, that you could avoid all of those headaches?
What if there was an online store template that could help you get a fully functional ecommerce store up and running in 5 minutes or less?
There is… and it’s called the Market Theme.
“Market” is an online store theme template with its own built-in shopping cart ecommerce ordering system.
It connects easily with your Paypal account (or Authorize.net) for payment processing, and can be ready to go in less than 5 minutes!
The Market theme works in conjunction with WordPress, a free content management system that has revolutionized the web with its power and simplicity.
Without going into too much technical detail, this makes adding or editing pages or website text incredibly easy.
Basically, if you can fill out a webpage form, you can modify your website. (No HTML knowledge required!)
Rather than struggling through the standard technical requirements of setting up a website,
- You simply install WordPress, (Here you will find the guide: Bluehost WordPress for Beginners – How to Start in 10 Minutes)
- upload the Market theme & activate it,
- enter a few settings (such as your Paypal ID),
- choose a color scheme, and that’s it.
Your online store is setup in minutes, and you’re ready to start adding products!
The hours, days, or even weeks worth of time you save in setup, can now be spent focusing on activities that will BRING IN money (marketing and traffic building).
Furthermore, Market is backed by a risk-free 60-day money back guarantee,
so you’ll be confident that you have nothing to lose.
Supercharge the speed at which you launch your business.
Imagine having your online store up and running in less than a day!
The Market theme takes the “technical” out of setting up a storefront, so you can spend your time on selling products.
If you’ve even thought about setting up an online store for your business, you won’t find an easier solution to use anywhere!
How to shave days (or weeks) off your website development time
As any experienced online marketer can tell you, setting up the website is one of the most time consuming parts of starting any new web business venture.
WordPress is great because it’s easy, and has thousands of plugins and developers available, but what if you want more than just a content site?
What if you actually want to sell products? (either your own, drop-shipped, or affiliate)
Typically, you’d have to:
- design page templates
- create HTML forms
- set up payment processing gateway connections
- design database schemas
- integrate a shopping cart script or 3rd party service
- plus dozens of other “to-do” items
The expense and time involved in this process can be enormous!
There are so many technical requirements just to get your online store ready to start adding products.
“Market” is an online store theme template for WordPress with its own built-in shopping cart ecommerce ordering system that connects easily with Paypal for payment processing.
(Authorize.net and customer ordering w/out payment options are available too.) Although Market works like a plugin, it’s a fully self-contained WordPress theme.
Simply upload the theme, activate it, enter a few settings, choose a color scheme, and that’s it.
Your online store is setup, and you’re ready to start adding products. No additional plugins or integration is required.
Basically, the Market theme takes the “technical” out of setting up a website storefront.
The hours, days, or even weeks worth of time you save in setup, can now be spent focusing on activities that actually BRING IN money
(like marketing and traffic building).
Imagine having your new ecommerce website setup and ready to go in less than 5 minutes!
So stop getting bogged down by the technical stuff.
Supercharge the speed at which you build your website empire!
“Market” helps you get things set up quickly, so you can move onto your next project.

WordPress works by interacting with a MySQL database, everything on the website is saved within the MySQL database (like a warehouse) which allows the site to work by interacting with each other.
The database is not included in the WordPress software,
but is provided through the hosting service chosen where to install and use WordPress.
Some features of the database can also be set up through special plugins or through a control panel called phpMyAdmin accessible from a browser,
that allows the administration and management of the database at every point, but here you must be able and practical MySQL database.
Elementor – A Powerful Page Builder That You Can Use For Free
What is Elementor?
Elementor is a “Site builder” plugin that allows you to create a site without any computer or programming skills.
Elementor’s interface allows you to “compose” web pages as easily as a graphics program.
Thanks to an immediate and intuitive interface, you will be able to add the elements that make up your site by simply dragging them to the point you want.
All those aspects that are normally defined in a WordPress theme, are now manageable and customizable with Elementor.
The elements available are really numerous: from simple text blocks to images or videos, from icons to buttons, from menus to titles, from image carousels to maps and much more.
In short, a really powerful and constantly evolving tool that allows you to build a professional and graphically appealing site from scratch.
One of the most substantial differences compared to other page builder applications to create sites, such as Wix or Flazio, is to have behind you an extremely powerful, flexible, reliable and free CMS, like WordPress.
Elementor Pro: Why is it convenient?
f you’re here and you’re reading this guide, it’s probably because you want to build a site on your own, optimizing time and costs.
Elementor is one of the few (if not the only) plugin for which I strongly recommend you to buy the Pro version. It is really worth it.
Thanks to Elementor Pro you will be able to manage and customize every area of your site and you will have many more tools and components available.
Here are just some features that will enrich the basic plugin:
- Over 50 additional widgets
- Over 300 Templates
- Header / footer design
- Global Widgets
- Widgets for e-commerce
- Dynamic content
- Parallax effects
- 1 year of updates and support
The cost of Elementor Pro is $49 and I would define it as an essential investment to build a professional site, especially in the case of a corporate or commercial site.
Please also note that using this plugin, you won’t need to buy a Premium theme. This way you won’t risk to buy a theme that may not be suitable for your needs.
Another advantage is that Elementor Pro already includes many features that will prevent you from using and managing many other single dedicated plugins (contact modules, popups, galleries, sliders, maps, social sharing icons, etc.).
So, I recommend you get your own Pro license, so you can proceed immediately with the creation of a professional site.
What is a WordPress hosting
A hosting service, also called “host” is a network service that provides a web server with a large space where you can upload and insert all the files to create a WordPress site, image files, plugins, etc. …
A hosting package, when it specifies to be “WordPress hosting”,
means that it will sell a web server with Linux operating system,
This because WordPress was born to be used and exploited at best with a Linux based operating system
Another special feature is that WordPress-specific hosting includes:
a control panel function that allows you to install WordPress automatically in two simple steps with two mouse clicks,
and if you decide to do so, the system will automatically update WordPress every time an update is released.
In addition, a whole series of functions and applications will be made available in order to manage it in the simplest way,
from a control panel to manage all the functions, a specific panel to manage databases, functions to create and manage backups, etc…
In combination with the hosting service for a WordPress website you need to choose a domain name that will have your website (www.sitename.com).
Here you can choose for free a domain name for your site with Bluehost,
one of the best WordPress Hosting of 2020 (remember that Bluehost offers the domain name for free for one year).
The 13 most important features for WordPress Hosting
I’ll give you the 13 most important hosting features listed according to the priority you should check are included in the package you are going to buy,
and should make you choose WordPress hosting not only on the basis of the price offered but also according to the features included:
1 – Support (by phone/chat/email)
2 – Control panel. (Plesk or cPanel)
3 – PhpMyAdmin panel.
4 – Automatic daily backup (Web Space and Database)
5 – Being able to create unlimited domains.
6 – To be able to create unlimited databases.
7 – Unlimited space and bandwidth. (which in reality do not exist)
8 – Possibility of upgrading to higher packages.
9 – File manager.
10 – Supercache function.
11 – Htaccess file rewrite.
12 – Customizable PHP.ini.
13 – Uptime guarantee.
These features just listed could be good for some and not for others, the difference in the choice is mainly based on the type of site to be built.
WordPress: Fix Problems
This part is constantly being updated, we will try to give you indications on the various problems that may arise in the use of this fantastic platform.
The most frequent errors and any technical problems in the use of the platform
Index of Contents
- Syntax error
- Error 404
- Sidebar under WordPress content
- 403 Forbidden
- Error 502 Bad Gateway
- Error 429
- 401 Not authorised
The syntax error on WordPress is usually caused by a small but crucial error in code syntax. A missing comma or an extra parenthesis can interrupt the entire script.
To correct the syntax error you need to find the code that caused this error. Once found you can remove it or correct the syntax.
If you pasted the code using the Appearance “Editor” section from the WordPress noticeboard, then you are stuck without the ability to access the section again to remove or correct it. So how do I edit the code?
The only way to solve this problem is to access the file you last modified using FTP.
Log in to your site and go to the file you need to edit. In case you have forgotten which file you need to edit, look at the error code. The error will tell you exactly which file and which line you need to edit.
You can remove the code you added last or correct the syntax. Once you have finished removing / editing the code, save the file and upload it to your server. Go to your WordPress site, refresh the page and your site will work.
When a user visits one of your articles he sees the error 404 instead of the article.
The most common cause has to do with permalink settings in WordPress settings. To solve this problem, start by saving the permalink settings from your WordPress settings again.
Go to the administration area of WordPress then go to Settings >> Permalink. Simply click the Save Changes button at the bottom of the page.
This action will update the permalink settings and file rewriting rules. In most cases this solution will solve the problem of items returning the 404 error not found.
If this solution does not solve the problem you will need to update the .htaccess file manually. To do this you need to access the server via FTP and modify the .htaccess file which is located in the same folder as the wp-content and wp-includes folders.
The easiest thing you can do is to make the file temporarily writable by changing the permissions from 660 to 666 and then return to the administration area under Settings >> Permalink and save again.
Sidebar under WordPress content
Has the problem appeared recently? Does it only appear on one page or on a specific article?
If the answer to both questions is YES then the following solution is for you.
Look carefully at all the things you have recently modified. Have you added a new plugin? Have you made any changes to your HTML code?
The contents of pages or articles have blocks <div>. Make sure these <div> are closed like this </div> . One of the best ways is to use the W3 Validator.
Other problems could be:
Improper width ratio. If your container’s width is 960 pixels then you need to keep things in proportion.
For example, content width 600 pixels, side bar width 300 pixels, and 60 pixels of space between them.
The other problem could be the float property. You need to make sure you add float: left; and float: right; to the right elements. If you don’t, it won’t work the way it should.
The Forbidden error code is displayed when server permissions do not allow access to a specific page.
It is also possible that only the “Access Denied” message is shown instead of the full 403 Forbidden error status.
You may also see a message like “Access to Siteexample.com has been denied. You do not have permission to view this page”.
Before you do anything, we recommend that you create a full backup of WordPress and your website.
403 Proibidden Error caused by a plugin
The first thing you need to do is temporarily deactivate all WordPress plugins.
This includes all security plugins that you may have installed on your site. If this solves your problem, it means that one of the plugins on your website is causing this error.
You can figure out which plugin was causing the error by activating all plugins one at a time until you are able to play the 403 error.
403 caused by damaged .htaccess file
Often the 403 error is caused by a corrupted .htaccess file in your WordPress site. Repairing this file is quite simple.
First you need to connect to your website using an FTP client or cPanel file manager.
Next, locate the .htaccess file in the root folder of your WordPress site.
You need to download the .htaccess file to your computer so that you have a copy. After that, you must delete the file from your server.
Try accessing your website now. If the 403 error is fixed, it means that the .htaccess file is corrupted.
You can generate a new .htaccess file by accessing the WordPress administration area and going to the Settings page “Permalinks.
Regenerating .htaccess file in WordPressimg
Simply click the Save Changes button at the bottom of the page and WordPress will generate a new .htaccess file.
Error 502 Bad Gateway
Every time you visit a website, your browser sends a request to a web server. The server receives and processes the request, then returns the requested resources together with an HTTP header and an HTTP status code.
Generally, an HTTP status code is not displayed unless something goes wrong. This is basically the way servers inform you that something is not going as it should, and is transmitted with a code that allows you to perform a diagnosis.
There are many types of errors 500 status codes (500, 501, 502, 503, 504, 520, etc.), which all have slightly different meanings.
These indicate that the request has been accepted, but the server has stopped the execution of the request itself.
In this case, a 502 bad gateway error means that a server, acting as a gateway or proxy, received an invalid response from an inbound server.
A 502 bad gateway error is usually a network/server problem, however, it can also be a problem on the client side.
So we’ll look at both a bit. What follows are common causes and ways to correct the 502 bad gateway error and restore your website.
One of the easiest and one of the first things to try when you encounter a 502 bad gateway error is simply to wait a minute or so and reload the page.
It could be that the host or server is simply overloaded and the site will soon be up and running again. While you wait, you might also want to try another browser right away, so that the browser is excluded from the cause of the problem.
Cancel Browser Cache
Whenever you encounter problems like these, it may be useful to clear your browser cache.
A 502 bad gateway error could also be caused by a DNS problem, for example when the domain does not resolve on the correct IP.
If you have just migrated your WordPress site to a new host, it is important to wait for it to fully propagate, which in some cases can take up to 24 hours.
Check with your host
The main reason why a 502 bad gateway error is usually displayed comes from a problem with the web host.
Sometimes a query, script or request takes too long and is then deleted or cancelled by the server.
Many hosts, particularly shared hosts, implement what they call “kill scripts”. Basically, what this script does is stop a request after a certain period of time so that it doesn’t block the site or affect other users.
If you look for “bad gateways” on Twitter, you will see thousands of tweets every day warning the hosting company of the problem.
One reason why you might consider switching to a host like Kinsta is that the platform runs in an isolated software container that contains all the software resources needed to run the site (Linux, NGINX, PHP, MySQL).
This means that the software that runs each site is 100% private and is not shared, not even between your own sites.
This greatly reduces the possibility of seeing a 502 bad gateway error. Kinsta does not run aggressive kill scripts, as some shared hosts do. And even if one of your sites happens to be down, this will have no impact on the other sites.
Temporarily deactivate the CDN or Firewall
It could also be a content delivery network or firewall problem. If you use a third-party CDN provider, an easy way to solve this problem is simply to temporarily deactivate the CDN.
You are receiving error message 429 Too Many Requests because the user has sent too many requests at a certain time (it could be a plugin, DDos, or something else). The server is asking you to stop sending requests.
To solve this in WordPress, try one of these 5 methods:
Change the default WordPress access URL:
Brute-force attacks are one of the main causes of error 429 on WordPress sites.
A quick way to prevent attackers from trying to break into your WordPress login page is to change your URL from the default options so that it cannot be found in the first place.
By default, you can find your site access page by visiting your site by visiting yourwebsite/wp-admin. It’s quite easy to remember, but it’s also very insecure as everyone on the web will know exactly where to access it from.
Check if your internal HTTPS connections are causing the problem
Nowadays, there is no reason why you should not have an SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) certificate set up for your site. At the same time, the entire site should upload to HTTPS.
Disable the Really Simple SSL Plugin and Replace Your Internal Links
Once the Really Simple SSL plugin is gone, error 429 should disappear.
This means that you can access the dashboard to configure a new plugin that will help you replace all your internal links at once. That plugin is called Search and Replace
Deactivate all your WordPress plugins
We focused on a single plugin that could cause 429 error.
However, in practice, any plugin could cause this problem if it makes too many external requests.
If neither of the above methods has helped you, it might be time to try disabling all your plugins at once to make sure the problem doesn’t come from one of them.
Suppose you don’t have access to your dashboard and can’t disable plugins in the usual way.
In that case, you will need to access your site via FTP using a client like Filezilla and search for the public_html/wp-content/ directory.
Inside, you should find several folders, one of which is called plugins:
Right-click on that folder and change its name to something else, like plugins.deactivated.
Once done, WordPress will not be able to “find” any of the plugins and will deactivate them automatically.
However, before you try to access your site again, go ahead and create a new empty folder called plugins,
so WordPress will continue to work normally.
If error 429 disappears the next time you visit your site, you can assume that one of the plugins you deactivated is the responsible plugin.
This means that you have to restrict your search to the plugin that caused the problem.
Switch to a default WordPress theme
If you realize that error 429 is not caused by a plugin, then it is possible that the cause is the theme you are using.
To see if this is the case,
you can manually disable the active theme by forcing WordPress to switch to one of the default themes provided with the CMS.
This process works very much like the manual disabling of plugins we saw above.
You will need to restart your FTP client, and this time go to the public_html/wp-content/themes directory.
Once there, look for the directory that matches the active theme,
And rename it under any other name.
If you now try to access your site, the 429 Too Many Requests error should have disappeared.
You’ll also notice that everything looks a bit different, but don’t panic:
your theme and all its customizations are still there.
All you have to do is return the theme folder to its original name so that you can activate it again.
If error 429 returns, you may need to contact whoever developed the theme or consider changing the theme on your site.
Contact your hosting provider
In some cases, it is possible that the cause of the 429 error may originate from your server rather than your website.
If this is your case, no intervention on your part will be able to completely solve the problem.
401 Not Authorised
In this error, a message informs you that the page was not loaded due to invalid credentials for any reason.
It may be that the login URL has been changed or the URL you entered is incorrect. If not, try clearing your browser cache and cookies.
The main problem with a 401 Authorization Required error is that it has several potential causes. This makes it difficult to identify which one is affecting your browser.
With this in mind, let’s look at some possible solutions together so that we can overcome it.
Empty DNS (Domain Name System) records
In many cases, your computer stores data on the IP addresses and URLs you access most often. This way, it is able to process future requests more quickly.
Emptying DNS involves deleting all that temporary data from your computer. This way, the next time you try to access the URL that causes the problem, it will make a completely new request and authenticate again.
The process of emptying DNS varies from one operating system (OS) to another. If you are a Windows user, simply open the Command Prompt and type the ipconfig / flushdns command.
Windows will return a successful message and you can try to access your website again.
Empty your firewall and browser caches
Browsers can also store data so that they do not have to load websites from scratch every time you visit them. This process is known as caching. In some cases, you may inadvertently store incorrect access information.
If this is the root of your HTTP 401 error, solving it is easy as modern browsers allow you to clear your cache in minutes.
With Chrome, for example, you can go to Settings> Advanced and search for the Clear Browsing Data option. Then you can specify what data you want to delete from your browser.
Select the Images and cached files option and click the Clear Data button
Check for conflicts between plugins and WordPress theme
Compatibility issues with plugins and WordPress theme can sometimes cause an HTTP 401 Authorization Required error. Disabling either element to determine the source of the conflict is easy if you have access to the dashboard.
For your theme, switch to a WordPress default value such as Twenty Nineteen or Twenty Twenty.
You can then reactivate each plugin one by one and wait for the problem to occur again. You should be able to restrict the problem element.
However, a 401 error may prevent you from accessing the dashboard. This means that to disable the plugins and theme, you need to use a File Transfer Protocol (FTP) and an FTP client such as FileZilla .
To disable plugins with filezilla you have to follow the same procedure we saw in error 429, how to disable plugins with Ftp
With the difference that you will have to rename the folder of each plugin
Improve the speed of your WordPress site
You want to speed up your WordPress site, don’t you? Ask any SEO consultant if the speed of a website is important. Fast loading improves the user experience, increases views and helps your SEO positioning.
A website’s performance affects a site’s visitor behaviour, organic site traffic and corporate sales. Upload time is especially important in an increasingly mobile world where visitors upload a website to a 4G mobile connection.
In this section, we’ll give you suggestions for speed optimization to increase the performance of your WordPress site.
Speed essentially refers to the period of time that web pages or multimedia content are downloaded from hosting servers and displayed on the requesting web browser.
How does loading a site work?
There are 3 actors in the process of uploading a website:
- “Client” is a visitor’s browser, such as Chrome, Firefox, Safari or Internet Explorer.
- “Pipes” are files that bring information to the Client.
- “Server” is your hosting account, representing the space in which your website “lives”.
When someone enters your domain name into their Client (browser), the Pipe directs the request to the Server.
The server says “Ahh – you want these files” and sends them back to the client via the Pipe. The client then organizes the files so that the visitor sees a finished product: a website.
Make a quick speed test
There are many free tools online, the best in our opinion are:
Before starting the check, remember to set the country closest to your location in page setting
This tool is very important unlike Gtmetrix, it will also control the speed of your mobile site for free.
Some of the most common causes for slow loading time:
- Web hosting. A poorly configured web server can have an impact on the speed of your website.
- Non-optimized images. Non-optimized images can make your site very slow.
How to speed up a WordPress website
The choice of hosting
If you have a slow hosting server the loading times of your website will never be optimal. The quality of your web hosting can have a significant impact on the performance of your site.
If you rely on economical solutions, you will ultimately pay the price in terms of performance.
Many hosting companies have met the demand by offering specific hosting packages for WordPress.
Take a look at them, see our reviews on this page, we have tried the best web hosting on the market right now and they all have great quality in terms of performance and speed.
Also very important is the price, they all have interesting and affordable offers for those without budget.
Shared hosting in a good company can be an excellent starting point when making the initial investment.
Optimize your images
Images are one of the most important content elements when it comes to user engagement. But if you don’t optimise them before uploading them to your WordPress pages, you can have negative effects.
The same image may have different file sizes depending on the file format and compression method. JPEG, PNG and GIF are the standard formats used throughout the web.
You can use Photoshop or any other editing software to optimize your images.
Or if you don’t have time to optimize your images yourself, we recommend free plugins, such as
- Lazy Load Images
Caching: use the right plugins
CDN leverages caching technology to serve your content faster. Likewise, you can also take advantage of caching via some plugins. W3 Total Cache and WP Super Cache are both great options.
These add-ons hide a copy of the static elements and serve your content faster. On average, caching can make a site 2-5 times faster.
Minimize CSS and JS files
Minimising CSS and JS can reduce the loading time of your site by reducing file size.
In the Minify process multiple files are combined into one, so the server doesn’t have to call from many different areas. This makes your site faster.
WordPress has some plugins like Better WordPress Minify. Fast Minify, that can solve this problem.
Remove unnecessary plugins
Plugins can multiply the functionality of your WordPress site but can also cause many performance problems if you are not selective and careful about what you choose to install.
Not all plugins are created the same and are reliable: there are many good ones, but there are others that are badly coded.
Be very careful when you decide to implement an add-on on your WordPress site or blog: the more plug-ins you install, the more compatibility problems are likely to occur.
To check installed programs and remove unnecessary plugins, simply go to your control panel: Dashboard >> Plugins >> Installed Plugins
Clean and Minimalist design for the Homepage
Your home page is one of the most important pages of your website because most visitors will come here.
Whatever theme you choose, make sure that your homepage is very clear and minimal.
Too many functions not only distract readers, but also decrease the speed of page loading.
Enable GZIP compression
Most hosts at this time, they enable it automatically, but you can check
Clean Up Your WordPress Database
Use the Excerpts on Homepage and Archives
By default, WordPress displays the entire content of each article on your homepage and in the archives. This means that your home page, categories, tags and other archive pages will load more slowly.
Another disadvantage of displaying complete articles on these pages is that users do not need to read an article on the home page. This reduces page views and the time users spend on your site.
To speed up page loading times, you can set your site to show extracts rather than full content.
You can go to Settings “Reading Settings” For each article in a feed, show: Summary “instead of” Full Text “.
Do not upload videos directly to WordPress
You can upload videos directly to your WordPress site and it will automatically display them in an HTML5 player…But you NEVER have to!
Hosting videos will cost you a lot of bandwidth. You may be charged commissions by the web hosting company, or they may even shut down your site altogether, even if your plan provides “unlimited” bandwidth.
Video hosting greatly increases the backup size and makes it difficult to restore WordPress from backup.
Instead, you should use a video hosting service such as YouTube, Vimeo, DailyMotion, etc. And let them take care of the hard work. They have enough bandwidth to solve this task, and it’s free!
WordPress has a built-in video feature, so you can copy and paste the URL of your video directly into your post and it will be embedded automatically.
Use a WordPress theme optimized for speed
When you want to select a WordPress theme for your website, it is important to focus on speed optimisation. Some beautiful and impressive looking themes are actually unrefined and can slow down your site.
It is generally preferred to use a simpler theme and use quality plug-ins to get the functionality you need, rather than choosing a theme inflated with complex layouts, flashy animations and other unnecessary features.
Use the fastest Slider plug-in
Slideshows are another common web design element that can slow down your website.
Even if your images are all optimized as described above, a poorly generated slider plug-in will mean that all your work has been wasted.
We have compared the best WordPress slider plug-ins for performance and functionality and Soliloquy has been decreed the fastest by far.
Here it is compared with other popular slideshow plug-ins
|SLIDER PLUGIN||CHARGING TIME||REQUESTS||PAGE SIZE|
|Soliloquy||1.34 secs||26||945 KB|
|Nivo Slider||2.12 secs||29||1 MB|
|Meteor||2.32 secs||27||1.2 MB|
|Revolution Slider||2.25 secs||29||1 MB|
|LayerSlider||2.12 secs||30||975 KB|
Use a faster Photo Gallery plug-in
If you have a photography website or portfolio, you probably want to use an image gallery plugin to view your photos.
It is very important to use a speed-optimised WordPress image gallery plug-in.
We recommend using Envira Gallery, which is the best WordPress gallery plug-in on the market. It allows you to create beautiful image galleries that are very fast to upload.
We tested its speed against a couple of other popular gallery plugins and found that Envira Galley is almost twice as fast:
|Gallery Plugin||CHARGING TIME||REQUESTS||PAGE SIZE|
|Envira Gallery||1.08 secs||24||1MB|
|Foo Gallery||1.89 secs||23||357.1KB|
5 WordPress tricks
1) Quick draft functionality
If you run a blog, you will surely know that there is nothing worse than having nothing to write and staring at the blank page for inspiration.
In my experience, the best way to avoid this problem is to take note of all the ideas that come to mind.
WordPress has a feature to create a “Quick Draft”. You’ll find it on the first screen of your Dashboard. Here you can enter titles, a short summary of your idea and save your draft.
When you run out of ideas again, you’ll find it in your posts.
2) Deactivate the administration toolbar when you are logged in
When you log in to WordPress and then navigate to the live site, the toolbar at the top is always visible.
Sometimes, it’s useful to have the toolbar always available, other times, it’s a real nuisance!
To deactivate it, simply navigate to Users > Your profile and uncheck the Toolbar item, View Toolbar when viewing the site.
3) Real-time preview of installed themes
Thanks to WordPress, you can test the themes, and use the options in the “Customize” panel, without activating them!
To do so, install the theme you are interested in, without activating it.
Then click “Preview in real time”. You can work on the customization options and see the live changes. If you don’t want them to be saved, simply exit the page.
4) Integrating YouTube and Vimeo videos
Videos are great content to integrate into your posts. Until recently, to embed a video into your content you had to copy and paste the YouTube (or Vimeo) embed code.
Now this is no longer the case! Just copy the url, paste it directly into the Visual Editor and WordPress will do the rest of the work for you.
5) Insert images in widgets
Many users ask how to insert images into the sidebar. In fact, most themes do not have a specific widget for images.
The good news is that you won’t have to install any additional plugins. You just need to do it this way:
- load the image into the media library
- then click “edit” and identify the so-called “file URL”.
- Finally, navigate to Appearance > Widget and insert a text widget in the sidebar. Inside the text field, insert this code
